Individual Psychotherapy in Chicago

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy starts with a 15-minute video consultation.
Be ready to share why you are seeking psychotherapy, what you’ve tried so far, what you’re looking for in psychotherapy, and your questions for me. If we both decide that we are a good fit, the next step is a comprehensive intake.

  • To prepare for the comprehensive intake, you’ll fill out paperwork describing your medical and psychological history, your family medical and psychological history, your current symptoms, your current behaviors and lifestyle, and your goals for treatment.

During the 55-minute intake consultation, we’ll discuss your paperwork and create a dynamic treatment plan. Your treatment plan might be a referral to another mental health provider, including a psychiatrist or a different psychologist. I don’t treat active substance abuse disorders, active eating disorders that are medically unstable, active psychosis, or those in need of treatment for legal reasons.

I am able and willing to provide treatment to you if you are seeking treatment to manage self-harm behaviors and suicidal thoughts if you are currently in treatment with a psychiatrist with whom I can consult.

  • Once we decide that we are beginning treatment together, we will decide on our therapeutic frame, including our appointment time and frequency.

Individual psychotherapy cadence with us ranges from twice per week to once per month, depending on the severity of your symptoms and your goals.

We are happy to discuss how treatment is going at any point in our process and can make referrals to other providers during or at the end of our work together, as needed.

The comprehensive intake and ongoing psychotherapy appointments both last 55-minutes.

Appointments with Dr. Maggie Perry cost $300.

We take FSA, HRA, and HSA. We also work with a company called Reimbursify that helps you get reimbursed for the appointments using your out-of-network benefits. Use the link below to file your insurance claim.

Community Time

Community Time is a meeting for those with anxiety disorders, OCD, and mood disorders. During Community Time, you’ll introduce yourself by describing in what way you are working on your mental health and what you’ve done recently to relate to your mental health well. The weekly topic is based on my weekly newsletter, which will include a reflection question starting in January. It includes both teaching and the chance to discuss how the concept applies to your life. At the end of Community Time, you'll make a commitment to behavior that either increases your functioning or increases your distress tolerance. You'll describe what helps you maintain motivation and hope.

Community Time will meet on Tuesdays and Fridays starting January 6.

Tuesdays at 6pm PT / 7pm MT / 8pm CT / 9pm ET
Fridays at 10am PT / 11am MT / noon CT / 1pm ET

Community Time is a weekly 55-minute drop-in meeting that costs $25/group and has up to 12 people. After you sign up through the link below, I'll add the appointment to your account in my patient portal, where you'll pay and receive a superbill that you can submit to your insurance. If you are not already my client in my patient portal, after you sign up through the link below, I'll invite you to my patient portal. You'll fill out my intake paperwork and sign my HIPAA forms and practice policies. I'll reach out to you to book a free 15-minute video call to answer your questions and make sure you're a good fit. Everyone is welcome to join one or both meetings whenever you'd like.
